Inner Voice: Call of MMOG Evolution

There have been quite a stir in the minds of savvy MMO gamers. And I have prepared a wishlist that can help game developers make quite an impression of revolutionizing  the world of MMO development. Just hoping to contribute ideas and concepts to make the MMO games more fun and have great experience to play with.

The following wishlists are as follow:

Wish Number One

Most MMORPGs usually showcase only one character that a player can control it during game time. Ironically, the games are said to be massively multiple online. It is a saturating fact where as it can be infused several new ideas. Should it be a player must be able to control  multiple characters?  But quite a few game developers are doing it and is catching players' attention. What I think is there should be more kind of these games. Best examples for this type are Granado Espada also known as Sword of the New World and Atlantica. They have both amazing graphics and sounds. A single player can have a control of three or more characters simultaneously in a game time. These are just eye-openers. More of these kind will be develop in years to come.

Wish Number Two

I would like to see a game that has no or just a few  relevance in medieval theme. Ancient worlds of some sort are getting bored. How about making a present-themed MMORPG or even a futuristic one. Cabal Online makes one of the quite few twist. It has a futuristic materials in a medieval background. It is very cool to play with. Specially if you get the astral bikes. Maybe a game developer might be thinking a WWII theme where instead of swords and armor, you can equip a player with pistols and machine guns. It can be tactically fun where a player can seek world domination. It is even impressive to have tanks as pets for the player. Very intimidating indeed. But please no nuke. An espionage type of game can also be in the mind of game developers. Covert operations are very exciting way to entice player. A horror-theme would be a new blood for gamers. Make the underworld characters the main cast. Those hairy werewolves and bloodsucking vampires have also attributes that tickle the minds of gamers. An intergalactic scenario can be a blockbuster. Eve Online and the upcoming Starwars Online will lead the way. Controlling spaceships and shooting aliens can be a cool stuff. Traveling from one planet to another can be educational for young gamers.

Wish Number Three

Games should not be limited to proprietary platforms. It can be ported to different operating systems like Linux or can be played in MacOS. Game consoles now incorporate storage. MMO game developers may make a  platform options in it so that a certain MMO game can adapt the controls and functions of a keypad as to correspond to its PC counterpart. So in a wired world like the Internet, players connect to their game more. Japan is the main console maker in the world where Nintendo and Sony Playstation have dominate the market. They can have initiative on doing it  and so as Microsoft with its Xbox. Players have the freedom to choose for the games they play and how can they play it to make a  competitive and enjoyable experience.

Wish Number Four

Honestly, playing MMO is a stressful task. You got to hack and slash your way to level up a character. That is one of the reason game developers and publishers always remind players to have a enough rest or make an in-between breaks while playing. Others opt to have a several pilot players where in he or she gives the gaming character to another person to have it play or level up. That is a very risky move and often times prone to hacking. The way to divert stressful actions is game developers should implement a game within a game scheme. Put a real world game in an MMORPG, where players can easily compete with each other  is a cool way for a PvP. A card game for example. It can have at least four players to participate as against a conventional PvP. Players have the chance to earn more through betting scheme. Anyway it is not real money so it is for the spirit of competitiveness and keen mind. Puzzles are also for the minds and can be included. Maybe a word game will enhance the young generation of players. Maybe developers have more exciting ideas of casual games that can be injected to the MMO games.

Wish Number Five

Games can have more multimedia features. Since an MMO is a participation of multiple players, the field of communication can be enhanced further. Develop a more applicable way of conversation. A simple voice command application is a cool way.  What are headset for ? A decoration in a computer?  Of course we cannot ignore the chat window. It is for the privacy of the players. With this features one thing can be reduced due to its very redundant function, emotion features of most MMO games that do not have any relevance in the game. It can be minimize or can be non-existence. Just incorporate the emotion features in a chat window. Another one of my suggestion is an in-game visual instruction. Players can draw up their respective game plans to their party mates. Cool isn't it. Once a player is in a party mode the game will pop up an instructional board or something like a mini map, so the leader can have a concise way to carry out  a game plan.  In the field of battle one must have a complete tool to ensure victory. Thus making the game more appealing.

Developers and gamers can have the same views and can have different approaches of how should a fun and cool game be made. It is a healthy way to share information for the benefit of the gaming industry. Online games are massively being participated world-wide because of the Internet. We should be able to take advantage of this wonderful technology. Open up more doors of opportunities. Explore more possibilities. In these way gaming industry shall be a force in the business.
